noisy turbo?
« on: 20 November 2006, 12:59 »
I've been having a few problems with the hoses that connect to the inter cooler and the turbo recently, one hose i had to replace and a clip had sheared off on the other, which has been replaced but i'm not sure if the seal is right.

basically I'm paranoid about any whooshing / sucking noise coming from the engine now as before it would indicate the hose had popped out and that air was leaking out of the turbo - inter cooler loop (which meant no power over 2000 rpm bad economy etc) so my question is how much noise should the turbo be making?

car is 2002 GT TDI 150 PD

It should be making quite a lot of noise when accelerating esp if you have the drivers window down.  The cold, damp weather will only make the turbo more efficient as well.

thats a comfort to hear.

i think the only thing i can do at the mo, is keep checking the hoses, for movement just don't want to buy a new set as thats going to be able £130 to swap out the original 2 (have changed one already)

Might just be easier to blag a quick run on a set of rollers and stick your head in the engine bay and have a good listen.
