Suspension.
« on: 02 August 2006, 17:56 »
Hi

New owner and new to the site, just purchased a 1989 gti cab and have a feeling the suspension is'nt quite right.  Seller changed all 4 shocks but the car is sitting very high at the front.

Rear underside of arch to top of tyre 35mm

Front underside of arch to top of tyre 70mm

what do you recken?

It doesn't sound right to me as I don't seem to remember my cabby being higher at the front than the back before or after I changed my suspension. Highly unlikely a seller would put these on as they are too expensive, but it's not on coilovers is it ? If it is you'll be able to adjust them, but unlikely. It does take about two weeks for the suspension to bed by the way, but yours does sound a little too high at the front. I seem to remember another thread similar to this a while ago so it might be worth while doing a search in this section (or maybe even the garage section) to see what you find. If you want a point of reference I've attached two pics of my cab, one when it was standard and the other when I'd lowered it about 40mm.

Before being lowered.

After being lowered.

......now officially dubless.
