Problems with alarm going off

My alarm is continually going off when I set it and teh dashboard lights up saying that the boot is open,

1) Where are the contact points for the alarm in the boot

2) How do you disconnect the alarm completely

3) Also is there anywhere to get new back bulbs as they are halogen

Hi GTIgirl,

I suspect that the pipe going to your rear screen washer has come off in the cold weather due to the nozzle freezing up. The water from the washer pipe then floods the switch which is in the lock mechanism inside the tailgate.

Does your rear washer still work? If it is feeble or non existent then that is a sure sign of a leak. Also, you may see water/screenwash dribbling out from the bottom of the plastic interior trim when you look at the bottom edge of the tailgate with it open.

This fault is a common problem on the Mk4 due to the poor design of the pipe connector onto the nozzle feed.

yep deffo sounds like washer pipe prob in your boot lid, had this on mine also, followed a how to guide off of ukmk4s and it was sorted!!!!, i cleand up all the metal bits where the water had been drippin/sprayin with a small wire brush and wd40 as didnt want any dodgey connections settin alarm off again!!!, if u follow rally_chris's guide it show syas how!!!

as for rear bulbs??? will remove mine and have a look when wifey brings car home!!, i would have though any car acssesory shop would have stocked replacement bulbs!!!
