Hi everybody I have a 2002 gti t 51 reg and it has started making a strange rattling sound when I'm driving it sounds like its coming from the drivers side footwell. I thought at first it was some loose change in my door pocket cause I've been caught like this before I used to have a jeep and thought my rear shock absorber was banging but it turned out, and you'll laugh (well the bloke at the garage did) it was the jack bouncing up and down in the boot.
The rattling only started when I finally let my wife drive it as she is learning and her instructor recommended I took her out in it for some practice, well you live and learn don't you.
Its a strange noise as it doesn't happen all the time and I can't seem to catch when it actually happens i.e. what speed I'm doing, which gear I'm in or what revs I'm doing.
Does anyone have any experience of this because I don't have a clue what to look at I noticed the plastic cover on the shocker top is cracked but I could be paranoid after the crash I had in it and I'm waiting for it to fall apart.
