Superchip... yey or ney?
« on: 22 July 2006, 13:47 »
I had a Golf 5 GT TDi 140Bhp. I had it chipped by AB Motorsport in Leamington Spa. This gave the car 170Bhp and the difference was remarkable, it really went like stink... I had it chipped with only 200 miles on the clock, but after 6000 miles the turbo became VERY noisy, especially on long journeys. One of the engine mounting brackets (casting) sheared causing the the engine to tilt dangerously as well.

Luckily the mounting bracket was replaced under warranty, but I did not dare mention the turbo. I've recently took delivery of an new GTI. I absolutely love it it in every way, except it does not seem to be as quick as the diesel... (daft as it sounds?) ... but it handles like a go-kart (unlike the dagger dagger)

1) Will the GTi feel quicker as it loosens up?
2) Would it be a fair assumption to link the mounting bracket failure and the turbo noise directly with the superchip?
3) Has anybody had a chip/remap and enjoyed longterm trouble free motoring?
