Golf Mk5 GTI Intermittent loss of engine power

I have a 7 month old Golf Mk5 GTI which has just started suffering from an intermittent loss of engine power.
It seems to go from one extreme to the other - One minute itÂ’s as fast as hell and the next itÂ’s struggling to accelerate. I have been running it on Super-Plus 100 (BP & Shell) ever since I've had it and it's been fine up until a couple of weeks ago.

Take it back to VW.
EVERY MK5 Golf has a simple data logger that stores faults and the mileage at which they occoured.
VW can and will access this memory to work out what the problem is.
BTW has the car been re-mapped?
Good luck
