fear not. there's a mk3 dash in there now!
This is the first time I've removed a dash (not including getting the mk3's in the first place). It's not that scary. Just look and learn.

- if its electrical problems on your cab, I may be able to help, I've had the wiring and dash out on mine, more times than I care to remember, and I used to be an electronics engineer for 11 years!

I wish youd said that a year ago. I had to let my other Golf go dead cheap because electrics played up constantly. Plus so many useless garages. Electrics just are not my strong point.
Give me a  carburettor no problem, car stereo im outta here!
