Mk2 VR6 Question!!

Hi, I'm looking into doing an engine conversion on my mk2 16v. If I go ahead, it will be a supercharged VR6 that I shall transplant. However, I would like 4WD to match, and to be perfectly honest, I don't like the look of the rallye (I was going to use this to transplant the VR6 into), therefore my only other option is a G60 Syncro, but I don't understand the difference between the 4WD of the Rallye and the Syncro on the G60 and apparently the Syncro wouldn't withhold the power of a supercharged VR6. Could you please help me  :undecided:  Oh and also, would I have trouble fitting a VR6 gearbox with a 4WD/Syncro system?

The G60 drivetrain is the same as the rallye one. it's the 5dr 1.8 carb syncro that isn't worth bothering with :)

Try and find a passat VR6 syncro gearbox ;) otherwise the original G60 syncro box will do.

Not all G60s have the syncho system, but I'm 99% sure they all have the synchro floorpan regardless :)
Quickest way to check, have a close look at the centre console, if it looks smaller than a normal MK2 one you know it has the synchro floorpan!

Thanks Dizzie & Rubjonny. Oh one other thing I have just come across, the G60 Syncro is only LHD right? Does the standard Mk2 Syncro (1.8 Carb?) have the same syncro system as the G60 Syncro, or is this the weaker one I have heard about, because this is RHD. Anybody know of a company who will do a professional RHD conversion on a G60 Syncro as I'd like a 3 door model, and even if the 1.8 Carb Syncro had the same 4wd system (which I don't think it does) it only came in 5 door to the best of my knowledge. The MK2 syncho has a weaker system than the G60/Rallye, and they only made 5 door models.
The G60 is indeed LHD only, but  it isn't too bad to convert if you like, just check out Dizzie's project page ;)

Thanks again rubjonny. Thought the Mk2 Syncro had a weaker system. If I were to leave the G60 Syncro as LHD, and take a VR6 from a LHD Corrado VR6 donor car, would this fit in with no problems? Also with it LHD, I presume a Passat VR6 Syncro gearbox (which Dizzie suggested earlier in thread) will fit too?

A LHD or RHD VR6 engine/gearbox will bolt in no problems :)
