Cat contverter
« on: 03 July 2006, 11:22 »
I was having the 5000 revs problem ( not going over) so took the car down to local vw dealer, the did the old fault check and tuned up with made a lot of difference, but they did say that I might need a new cat converter. Any idea how much this would cost to replace vw dealer said high hundreds.
I have only just been able to take the car out for long motorway driving and I have noticed that it gets jittery when putting my foot down, could this be to do with the cat?

Dunno bout the jitter but a cat will cost anything from around £300.
Depends if ya want original VAG or whatever is cheapest, dont think they vary much in quality.

Cheers Len . I am pulling my hair out, I have only had the car for about a month now and it seems to be one thing after another.
The main dealer is going to cost loads and not sure I trust them.

cant really see how the cat is causing the jitter.
I mean if its not allowing the normal flow it could cause a bit of back pressure but that would be felt more on overrun (coasting)

Thanks again Len, I will try and take it to another garage this week and see what they say.
