hey guys and gals

I am newish - joined few months ago but my gti arrives tomorrow.  So can i say hi to all and hope to be coming on meets and stuff.

I want to buy a vw dvd sat nav off ebay and install in my car when it arrives. I understand the one i need for the mkv gti is the mfd2 rns2 dvd sat nav ( whatever mfd2 rns2 stands for!?)

So on ebay there are a few - part num 1KO 035 198. The thing is, if you look at the push buttons under the screen some have a "cd" and an "info" button while others have a "tele" and an "aux" button instead.

they have same part num? So are they different?
does anyone know if one is better then the other?
what does "tele" do? phone? or TV?
Or do they do exactly the same thing?

I got other questions but i dont want to overload this .... so i will start with the above. I would be really grateful if anyone knows or can point me in the direction of any info/answers

cheers

OK

The early one has TELE on the front middle button and is CD ROM BASED

The later one has MUTE on the front middle buton and is DVD BASED

The second, later one is the one to go for being a faster navi unit and you only require 1 disk for the whole of europe!

man - that is the fastest response from a forum ( had a corolla t -sport, subaru impreza )

thanx Doc!

can i trouble you just one more bit - on ebay there are dvd maps for sale - would you happen to know which one is for the dvd mfd2 unit? ie part number, version?

Or would any vw dvd map for 2006 europe generally be compatible?

but cheers either way
