mk4 gti turbo engine problems
« on: 10 December 2003, 10:18 »
have a MK4 gti turbo with 35000 miles on the clock (2001). For the last 5-6 months its been driving a bit rough as if its getting the air supply cut at times. This causes it to loose power in first and second gear and generally feel as if its unsafe and not smooth at all.

Has anyone else had the same kind of problems. The warranty is about to run out within the next month or so and I just wonder if its going to lead to something nasty outside of this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :-\

Coil packs or airflow meter are good starting points.

I've had new coil packs and air flow meter with no luck. The garage did mention a throttle body linkage but didn't do any thing. Its also has Turbo recirculation valve, turbo dump valve, change over valve. A link fixed between turbo and throttle valve by replacing hose clip.
Problem seems worse when car is started from cold.

Apart from a coolant sensor in header tank its had no more faults found yet.

It just seems to get worse gradually after each time its been fixed.

on the plus side though its great when running ok

Any other know things that may find the answer would be greatfully accepted.
