Noisey

Hi, ;D

I have a big problem and I cant work it out!

I noticed a whinng noise coming from the back of the car when I do a left (sometimes right) hand turn at speed! I thought this was the wheel bearings so I replaced them (both sides) but the noise is still there!

It still sounds like my wheel bearings though. My friend thinks it could be the exhaust plates virbrating at speed but its to noisey!

Sometimes u can turn and there isnt a noise! I just cant think what it can be!

I have put on second hand alloys and new tyres last week but they seemed fine to me, no buckles, etc

PLEASE HELP
:o

Did the noise start when you fitted the alloys?

hi,

I think so but cant see how alloys would make this noise. Its strange, I took my car for a spin last night around some tight bends but no noise

Coming to work this morning doing around 70mph around a bend then it starts. It only seems to happen at speed rather than the tightness of the bend

what do u think? ???

Hi,
Not sure, obviously the wheels/tyres aren't physically touching the arch or structure and I guess you've checked the exhaust and are happy that it is clear and nothing on the exhaust pipe is vibrating. Only other thing I can think of is rear wheel bearings which you have had done. Just an idea, when you did the wheel bearings, you didn't overtighten the nut did you? Its a very low torque required on that nut.
Failing all that......what about your fuel pump? If that's on its way out it can get very noisy......and its about the only other thing at the back of the car that can make any noise. HTH ?:)

thanks for that

I garage did  the wheel bearings for me - so I think it should be ok regards to tightness of the nut

My friend does think it is the exhaust shield could he be right?

Could be, you'd be amazed how much noise something like that can make.......can't hurt to have a look.
