Little prob with a GTI
« on: 10 May 2006, 21:01 »
Hey all,

Had the good old cutting out problem and have managed to solve that.

Replaced the ECU relay, fitted a new coil (good old RAC!), new crank sensor (which showed up on computer) and a new distributor.

The prob I now have is that around 2000 rpm, the car slightly judders and feels abit hesistant.

We've cleaned the throttle body out, replaced a breather hose which was split and unplugged the maf and given it a blast, but the judder is still there when unplugged and nowt is showing up on the computer.

Do any of u experts have any idea what it could be? as me and my mate who has been a mechanic for years are stumped!

I've read and searched through nearly every thread on here and the only thing we haven't done is change the fuel pump relay but the one in the fuse box is grey and I haven't read of the fuel pump relay solving anyones problem?

Cheers

I had a 16v motor with a similar problem. When accelerating it would judder violently loosing then gaining power really quickly. Turned out the front engine mount had gone and when you accelerated the engine would lift up to the extent that it put strain on the wiring loom cutting out the engine then restarting it again as it dropped. A new mount fixed the problem.
