PAS steering rack dimension
« on: 25 April 2006, 21:41 »
Hi all. I've just reset the camber on my front wheels so now have to adjust the tracking. Thought I'd better check the fixed (LH) track rod dimension as stated in Haynes first. The fixed dimension is supposed to be 410mm but mine measures 390mm!    However I can't adjust it to be 410 because there will be hardly any thread left into the track rod end and the RH track rod has only about 15mm thread left on it whereas I would need at least 20 to make up for the 20 gained at the LH end. Anyone come across this problem? The only thing I can think of is that the Haynes dim should be to the very end of the track rod end and not to the centre as shown.  :undecided:

sounds to me like the rack isn't centred properly, follow the haynes procedure for centring the rack :)

Thanks, I'll run through the Haynes procedure tonight and see what I can find.
