Petrol smell
« on: 29 December 2003, 13:31 »
Happy Christmas & New Year to all!

I hope someone would be able to help me with a quick question. I got a 1.4 MK3 (1992) and everytime I turn the heater on - a whiff of petrol comes out.   :o   This only happens when the dial is on the hot sector - the smell disappears when I switch to cold air. Is this another trip to a garage? I seem to have tried almost all the garages in Cardiff and I dont trust any of them!!!  :-\

Thanks guys!

Run the engine, and check in the engine bay for leaks. Just follow the smell!

ha, I had the same problem recently. It was sorted by having the fuel hoses replaced.

I had this problem before, it was sorted by a simple clip to keep the fuel hose secure as it sometimes comes loose.
