hi im a newbie been looking for a nice mk3 as i realy like this shape golf but i cant afford the gti insurance! so i gota stay group 10 iv been looking at 1.8cls but cant any tell me if they are realy slow or not? i know they aint gona be rapid but are they nippy and can you tune them ither wise ill be looking at some other cars like old skool civic 1.4gl with 90bhp and quite light or old skool 2liter cavs with ecotecs 136bhp and gruop 10 insurace plz help cheers

look circa 10s to 60... Not going to set the world on fire. You can get a chip to up them to 100bhp apparently, then I guess mods like airbox/exhaust to make a max of 105 before spending money?

It's basically a restricted version of the 1.8 gti 8v engine from the mk2.

However, what they lack in speed, they respond very well in suspension tuning! And they look soo much better than anything else. And to top it off, they don't have an ecotec lump! Get a red top cav if you must ;)

cool its for insurance reasons why i cant get the gti or a redtop as i have 6points  :sad: and coming from a 1.6 crx im finiding it veryhard to settle for something slow  :sad:
