Lowering a golf gti
« on: 07 April 2006, 12:21 »
I have a MK3 golf gti 2.0 8V and want to lower it.
I've been looking at a set of Koni adjustables with springs that lowers the car 40mm, I was wondering if any one has this kind of setup on 17" alloys and if so could they send or post any pictures please,
even if you have 40mm springs on standard shocks,
I want to fill the gap between the wheel arche and the top of the tyre, I dont want to go in the arch to much.

if you want the tyre level with the arch on 17in wheels you need to lower it 60mm,
but try if you can ajustable coilovers as the ride will be better than just lowered
springs .

I've just finished a koni sport kit install at the weekend on my mk3 16v. It lowers the car pretty nice on std 16" rims. the handling is totally transformed now

i have koni ssk with a 40mm drop on 17;s and the ride is fantastic, makes such a difference. the only thing i would say is i wish i had gone lower as there is still a gap between the arches and the wheel but it does look and handle much better
