Tiny oil leak
« on: 04 April 2006, 14:19 »
Hi all. I have a teeny weeny oil leak from between the head & block below the 0.3bar oil pressure switch, (def not from switch) approx 1 drip per journey. I know this is a head gasket problem and I'll have to replace it eventually but I'don't want to do it this year if I can help it. I've got no cylinder leakage, no water in oil and no oil in water and the cars running great .... However, I have the valve cover off at the moment as I'm in the process of replacing the rubber gasket, is it worth tweaking the head bolts up a bit to see if I can stop the leak or should I leave well alone? Any advice welcomed, thanks

dont do that, you'll only make things worse or possibly shear a head bolt!  Replace the rocker cover gasket first, if that dont fix the leak then think about doing the head gasket.  Its not a bad job especially as the head in theory isn't warped so just a bolt off/bolt on job :)

Thanks for that advice. I know a head gasket job is on its way  , I'm just not ready for it at the moment. Will leave the head bolts as they are. At least the three leaks from the rocker gasket will be sorted for now (I hope)
