Walm start problem.....
« on: 28 March 2006, 16:08 »
can anyone recommend a cure?

my mk2 8v digi starts first time when cold but once up to temp if i stop then start it again the revs fall to around 500rpm or (even stalls at this point), then rise to around 1500rpm then fluctuats high then low until it levels out. no other probs other than that.

it aint the ISV as i have swapped it with my wifes.

any help would be appriciated

replace the blue temp sender with a new one from VW, then replace the filters and dizzy cap & arm.

If that don't help, check for vacuum leaks in all the braided hoses, the inlet boot and the blanking plugs on the brake servo pipe.

If that all checks out then visit the 'mk2 maintenance & info' section and have a read through the 'how2 tune your digifant' post :)

The blue temp sender will give you a fueling problem, as the ECU will not know how warm the engine is and will under/over fuel.  You want to check the easy things before you start fiddling with the idle/co, as a vacuum leak and/or worn ignition components will throw the settings off.
