Hi Matt.

I think the DSG is marvelous & the more you use it the better. I know a lot of people who have it, rave about it & with good reason. Until I opted for the DSG, I was your regular manual driver & I guess some may argue that if you have a GTI you should have the manual. I had the 6sd gearbox on the 4-Motion & unless the gearbox is different or been improved, I found certain gears notchy & was disappointed with the box overall. Especially in the morning when the car was cold. I work with someone who has a 6sd Audi TT convertible & he says the same thing! I assume the gearbox was used on both VW & Audi.

As for the Mini, although I drove it quite a bit, I never really wanted to push it! At times it torque steer when you would expect it not too. Until the GTI arrived last week, the Mini was a joy to drive, held the road really well & is a fun & funky car full stop. It will hold is value extremely well & the wife cannot wait for the warm weather to arrive.

Having praised the mini, I can tell you my wife would love a Boxster! How long have you had it? Why on earth would you consider selling it?

I think your right about the DSG, it's something that needs practice to get the real best from it.  There's nothing better than dropping it into sport listening to the throttle blipping on downshifts and then nailing the throttle through the gears LOL...  Or just leave it in Drive and chill out   I'm lead to believe the DSG setup is more aggresive in the Gti than the Audi, I can't wait to be able to compare them back to back...  The Audi is fantastic and very good at what it does, but it always leaves me cold!  You can hold it at 155 on the Autobahn all day and it'll be fine, but you can easily fall asleep at the same time

The Mini's really are fun, only thing that gets me is how much juice they like to drink!!!  I had a QA Cooper Cabrio for a couple of days, I managed 300 miles and got an average 25 mpg!!!  I wasn't hanging around mind   And taking the misses to IKEA was classic!  She managed a couple of mugs and that was it

The Boxster eh!!  Truly awesome motor, and terrific fun.  It took me the best part of 5 years to find the right car with many mistakes on the way, the main one being the CTR which lasted only 5 months LOL!  However,  the dealers let the whole experience down and should you need a new clutch/disc and pads you are left with one monster bill!!!  I've just had all this and it hurts   I accept that running a porsche isn't going to be the same as a honda but neither do I expect to replace pads, discs, clutch, rms and get rattles constantly looked at on a supposed prestige motor.

I also just luuuuuv GTi's
