Sorn and MOT
« on: 04 March 2006, 09:15 »
Any ideas what you are allowed to do when you've had a car off the road and want to take it to be mot'd? It should pass ok, but the nearest mot garage is  at least a mile away through town. Is it true that I'm allowed not to have road tax if I'm taking the car to be mot'd - (I'd get insurance) or is it one of those urban myths and will I get lifted by pc plod? What has anyone else here done - I guess the only other thing I could do is get it trailered down, but then what if it doesn't pass?

i pretty sure that as long as your insured and the car is booked in to the test station, your ok to drive to and from the mot place.without tax.but it has to be booked in. ive been told this many times.but pop to the cop shop n ask just in case.

you can drive to a prebooked mot with no road tax. no problems. i'd get some form of evidence that the mot is booked though to make life easier if you do get stopped, ie booking card or recipt for a small deposit etc. if your anything like me then pc plod will love puliing you over and making life difficult for no reason.
