I'm currently looking at various kits to lower my GTi, the FK Highsports Coilovers grabbed my attention until i kept reading about the quality of ride - too harsh!!  After more browsing it seems that the Koni Adjustable shocks and Eibach springs combo is the favoured option for best ride quality and handling, but i'm now confused on a number of things.

What is the difference between the Eibach Sportline and Pro-kit springs?  Are they the same thing?  I know Eibach does springs for a 60mm drop, Carl (from this forum) has got them, but where do you get them from?  I've seen plenty of 30-35mm and 40-45-50mm springs but can't find any 60mm's - yet.

Koni has 2 ranges of adjustables: Special & Sport.  The 'Special' shock adjusts from standard to 25% over standard, but this is confusing, isn't the standard setting 25% firmer than a standard VW damper anyway?

Would i have to replace all the bump stops and top mounts as well?  It's been recommended to do this whenever replacing the standard suspension, but i want to cut down on costs wherever possible, sorry i'm just being a tight arse.  Where do i get these from and would VW ones be good enough for the job?

Er......any ideas on costs to get all this fitted?  I've got a mate who 'knows' a few things and would like to learn myself but i'd rather get it professionally done for peace of mind.

Anything else i need to worry about?

I'd appreciate any comments or even photos of finished setups, actually photos would be great!!  I'll post pictures of my own car up when it's completed, will probably take around 3 months considering the flow of cash at the moment (getting new alloys & going holiday!!).  For those who has discussed head lighting options with me before, i've decided to go for the Hella duals which are now fitted n working perfectly!!

just a quick note,
When you go ahead and fit your kit,  you can use the origanal bumper stops, but you just need to trim them down by 40mm or 50mm, and also get new top mounts on the front as these tend to wear out. but get genuine vw ones though. thats a must!
from bad exsperiance with other makes. want say any names (GSF)  opppps :lipsrsealed:

plus, if I was you, wait for the lighter evenings if your going to do it yourself, cos it might take you most of the day, i did me,  not on the golf i've got now, but on my last.

Thanks for replyin Neil, i will most likely purchase new bump stops, so i'm going to end up needing 2 new front top mounts with bearings and 4 bump stops?

I've just been researching the difference between the Sportline and Pro-kit springs, check here:

In short, Sportline gives a lower drop but a bouncy ride while Pro-kit less drop with better handling.
