i have it on good knowledge that the max bhp a valver engine can go to is 197bhp(not forced induced in any way)

you would bore it out to a 2.2 litre and it would give you a 0-60 time of around 5.5 secs :o

but throwing money into the occasion could meen that the possibilties on engine conversion is endless :D

i like the origional question, cos the valver wins :D

I assume you mean a 1.8T Golf. If so.. as said above a standard mk2 16v will nudge past the mk4 on a straight, and annihilate it on the twisties (it's common knowledge that the mk4 sacrificed performance for comfort). Though, as most people are aware, throwing 400 quid at a 1.8T to get it chipped/remapped will leave a mk2 16v driver looking unhappy in your rear view mirror (at least.. until you need to turn a corner on the not-so-great standard suspension). Not sure what ?400 will get out of a valver because I've never owned one. So to answer your original question... it's all a matter of how much money you have to throw at either car.

Chris.

i've been contemplating, just for fun, buying an old 16v and shoving nitrous with a 200bhp pack on for fun, and take it to Inters next year. Make it a complete sleeper. (Should give it between 310-330bhp depending on how good the original engine still is).
