Hi there,
Does anyone know how much a new 2.8 V6 engine costs for a 4 Motion. Mine has just siezed and the insurance company are taking forever to get back to me with the cost!
Want to know if my car will be written off or not!
Cheers,
Ross.

Man thats devastating. Are the insurance def gonna pay out or are they trying every excuse not to?!! Its not a common engine your not going to get many v6 lying about in salvage or dialapart type places. Have they said that you can purchase the engine yourself from whoever? Or are they in touch with their own firms? I would guess that for a used v6 engine your looking at at least £1500 bare min!! Not 100% but keep us informed tho.

What sort of insurance is it?
Did the engine sieze as a result of flooding or something? Just wondering how this is insured, or do you mean an insurance based warranty?

They were resurfacing the road, went over a speed hump and onm the over side of it was a manhole cover. So as the car came off the speed hump at about 10mph it landed on the exposed manhole cover and send the sump up through into the engine!
Covered on the insurnace as they are going to claim of the council for it... just hoping they don't write it off!

And the other problem is that the work ha to be carried out at one of the insurance companies approved garages which happens to be a VW dealership. So the cost of a new engine to be shipped over from Germany and installed is really high and pretty colse to the value of the car.
