Gauges/Dash on my Mk2

I just got a dash from a scrappy (rev/speedo etc.) and its slightly different from my original (mines a Mk2 8v GTI 1989) the speedo goes up to 140mph (as appose to 120 on mine) and theres an extra warning light on it, does anyone know if the speedo will work accurately as well as everything else??

 I've got a '89 8v and my speedo goes upto 140??
   Is yours a G reg?
  The car has only had one previous owner from new so I don't think that fella would have changed the clocks. But if it works in mine it should work in yours.
