Fuel Gauge
« on: 14 December 2005, 10:27 »
Hi, my car runs out when the fuel gauge shows about 1/4 full. was just wondering is there anyway of resetting the gauge as it does work perfectly apart from this. it started off as a 1.8, now its a g60 with 16v clocks so that could have something to do with it.
Thanks in advance,
Jack

Just a guess but it may require a different sendor in the tank with 16v clocks

Shouldn't need a new sender, but the float in it may be bent or not moving freely.  Lift up the boot carpet then remove the big black cap, under this you'll see the fuel sender.  Undo the big nut and it will lift out, check it moves freely and clean up the contacts.

If that don't help you'll need to bend the float arm a wee bit.
