Has anyone tried this exhaust system on their 8v?

It's on ebay and about as cheap as the standard parts from Euro Car Parts.

Will it last more than 5 minutes?

It's urban right? That means it must be tougher, obviously.... ;-)

But besides the noise it will make and maybe the 4 odd BHP it might add, can you really justify spending £130 on a bit of shiney metal?

Haha... Since when was their a 8V turbo as standard?! Plus the pipe work is only 2" diameter throughout, which is about the same as the standard diameter of the factory exhaust.

Depends on what you want from the exhaust, shiney bit of metal with oem performance then this would be okay.

Got a milltek fitted for £300, sounds nice not over the top. The old one was shagged and kwik fit wanted £150 to replace that. So thought sod it, get one that will last.

Personally I have all but stopped buying things from ebay as they are never as described, especially if it some dodgy make you have never heard of !

Definately! Sellers just say "yeah it'll fit" and dont give part numbers etc... Hate ebay with a passion now!

thats a very good shout......

there is always the option of getting a custom one done... www.exhausts.co.uk are excellent, can have any size, shape, exhaust note u want.... and they are guarenteed for the whole length of time u own the car! (or it could be lifetime, but i dont know if its changable between owners)

prices are usually pretty good as well, about £150 for a back box, £300 - 350 ish for a full system.

as for ebay: its sh*t.... well, its good if your looking for something specific like a mk3 gti spoiler for £10

but there is so much mass produced cr*p quality / fake stuff floating around on there, u gotta be real careful!!!

I only buy off ebay stuff with a brand name (which I have heard of) and from people in england as well.

Very sad but I put mud flaps on my Mk3 as I get sick of s**te flicking up onto the doors, plus just had both wings and doors resprayed so didnt want paint chips straight away. Plus live in Manchester and its raining all the fecking time.

Anyway, all kinds of sh!te flaps on ebay saying they will fit - by just looking at the shape you can see they wont. Got some proper VW ones instead.

Back to the pipes, got that fitted at Awesome GTI in Manchester , they have a website and do exhausts, suspension etc. Sell all sorts for golfs.  www.awesome-gti.co.uk
