Put the handbreak full off then push the car to see if the rear breaks 'squeek'.
Maybe the handbreak is still on and needs adjusting ????

you guys are hilarious.

if i ever see anyone pushing a golf i'll be thinking of you lot checking your brakes. love the scientific methodology here. you should be proud  8)

Change gearbox oil.....click on the Royal Purple link on the homepage. I had an extremley knackered gearbox, and while it doesnt re-build a screwed box, certainly changed the characteristics of my gearbox considerably.

having said that, my sunroof got jammed the yesterday day - so i gave the car a push and hey presto it fixed itself. amazing....
