Water Pump Kits - VAG or aftermarket?

Is there any advantage in fitting a genuine VAG pump kit as opposed to an INA branded one?

I handled an INA Schaefler water pump kit recently and it looked exactly like the genuine VW pump with the VAG part number smoothed/ground off.

I am led to believe they, INA, are the OE suppliers.

Yes, the water pump itself is about £100, it's the plastic thermostat module that's the expensive bit.

I was thinking about the full kit including the thermostat and housing etc. The difference between genuine and say INA is well over £100

Road Rage Performance are doing a full Alloy water pump with an Alloy connector tube instead of the crap plastic ones.

Went with the INA. Quick comparison photo. They are similar, but not identical.
