1988 mk2 GTi restoration project video diary

Hi guys!

It’s been many years since I last owned a Golf and even more since I last owned a mk2 but I’ve gone ahead and picked up a 1988 F reg GTi 8v currently in white which was found at the back of a local garage’s yard and they wanted the space so £400 later and I owned a mk2 again!



The car is very much a restoration project. I’m under no illusion I’ll be driving it anytime soon. This is going to be long and labour intensive and maybe expensive but I’ll be doing all the work myself and learning a lot of things as I do them. I’ve never cut out a floor and welded a new one in after all!

I enjoy a good restoration project, so watching this with interest.

Looking at the car it’ll certainly be a challenge, but no doubt a rewarding one. I look forward to seeing the next (and subsequent) video(s).
