Torque Settings
« on: 19 August 2025, 19:43 »
Hi, Can someone out there help me please?

I’m after the torque settings for a Golf 1.6 TDi diesel Mk6 2011 reg.

I’ve tried googling it and got conflicting A1 answers which I’m not happy about and besides it does state that A1 is not always correct so thought I’d ask on the forum, no doubt someone has a workshop manual which will give the correct information.

I need the settings for both the front and rear brakes.
The caliper carrier bolts and for the slider bolts.

While I'm at it I think the wheel bolts should be 120Nm, can someone confirm this for me?

Thanks for your help

I asked Chat GPT for you.

Wheels
Wheel bolts: 120 Nm

Front brakes
Caliper slider/guide bolts: 30 Nm

Caliper carrier (bracket) → knuckle bolts: 200 Nm

Rear brakes
Caliper slider/guide bolts: 35 Nm

Caliper carrier (bracket) → trailing arm/knuckle bolts: 90 Nm + 90° (angle tighten), and use new bolts (these are typically single-use).

Notes
VW often specifies the rear carrier bolts as torque-to-yield (angle tighten) and to replace them when removed. Some guides list just 90 Nm; the workshop-style spec is 90 Nm + 90° — go with that and use fresh bolts.

Front carrier bolts are not torque-to-yield; they’re just very tight (200 Nm). A long breaker bar helps on removal.

If your car has the rarer rear drums (some trims), these numbers won’t apply to the rears — but most 1.6 TDIs of this year have rear discs. If you want, tell me your PR codes (from the boot/service sticker) and I’ll double-check the exact spec for your brake setup.

Thank you for the info Nino,

The codes for the brakes are 1KD and 1ZF

I'm not sure if these numbers are anything to do with brakes so Iv'e included them anyway, G02  7MG
