Headlight accents fading
« on: 22 July 2025, 15:09 »
I'm surprised it took me long to notice this but the red accents inside my headlights are starting to look quite pink. I suppose some fading is to be expected on an eight-year old car that sits outside all of the time but it's weird how the GTI badge and the exterior red trim below the grille is fine.

I suspect this can't be fixed without replacing the headlights unless anyone know different?

Red is the worst colour for fading due to larger pigments and the way red absorbs light. They can be done but needs separating by hearing and re gluing again and it is a very fiddly job. Probably easier just to replace them, remember though you may need a new grill as well as that will have faded as well a bit.
