EPC light, rev limiter and loss of power
« on: 11 March 2025, 17:10 »
I love my golf but recently it been causing me various problems stemming from an intermittent EPC light that causes a 4k max rev limit and reduces power significantly. I’ve used an OBD11 to scan for the errors and they change every time leaving me confused. Currently I have the following fault codes:
P25AC00
P16C100
P055F00
P164E00
U023500
P006800
U112100
U111000
U005400
I cleared the codes and P25AC00, P16C100, P055F00, P164E00 and P006800 remain but the EPC light has gone and comes back on again later on with a stop/start error message as well as limited revs. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Get it diagnosed professionally by a good Indy , clearing codes is not the answer ! EPC light can be triggered by any number of faults, but seems like you have an oil pressure issue so don’t delay

My daughter had near identical symptoms and codes. Local garage were very thorough and even took the sump off to check for blocked oil pick up, but they could find nothing. While investigating they noticed the battery was on its way out so new one was fitted.
Guess what? No limp home mode / errors since (been a month now).
