Golf 8 telematics - A rant!

So every Mk8 has telematics.

Every error message (and probably more) is sent to VW and by telling them who your dealer is, is sent to the dealer.

I know it is because I've had calls about oil changes and even flat tyres from my dealer.

For the last 6 weeks I've had gear selector errors every day.

Its been to the dealer today and low and behold at just before 6pm they call me and tell me it needs.... a new gear selector arm.

This data was already available to them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The part should have been ready for them to fit when i turn up, but no.

WTF is the point of vehicle telematics?

I'm going to turn it off.

I kept getting calls from the dealer recently, after having disconnected the airbag to change the paddles. The airbag warning light was on. They texted me each day for about four days. It stopped when @willni used his VCDS to turn it off. Next time they texted I answered and said it was no longer showing, which was true.  😂
