Camber?
« on: 24 June 2023, 11:25 »
I took the car in to a tyre centre on Friday as the steering wheel had developed a vibration. They sorted the problem then one of the techs handed me this and said I needed to take the car in to VW to sort the problem on this sheet. Only issue is I wasn’t listening to him and I wonder if any of you lot can work this graphic out? Thanks

Did you get second print out showing what they achieved? Or was this just for you to show VW how bad the tracking is? Some of those figures are way outside the recommendations.

They just balanced the front wheels. Cost £20 then the guy that did the front wheels did say something about the rear passengers side camber, tutted, then handed me the piece of paper in the photo…

Well I'd definitely be looking to get the alignment sorted - I would have thought your tyre place would have wanted to do the work not just send you away. Maybe source a garage through https://alignmycar.co.uk/ Unless your car is brand new and you want to take on VW about it?

I did tell the tyre guy that my car has a full maintenance package with vw so maybe that’s why he pointed me back to the VW Dealer. So there’s definitely another issue for me to moan at them for? 🙄

Hi. I wouldn't bother with the VW Dealer tbh. As advised by a fellow Forum member, suggest to do some research and find a Tyre Centre which has, for example, a Hunter wheel alignment ramp installed. This will accurately assess the front/rear wheel camber etc. then advise you on next steps depending on the result. VW dealers rarely invest in this type of set-up. I have it done to mine once a year given the state of the road network. Average approx. £50 inclusive of any adjustment. If the Tech spots something wrong with mechanicals, they advise you if its a VW Warranty issue.

VW won't adjust your alignment for you.... its a "wear and tear" issue.

Just go find someone who can do it and pay them - not VW!
