Central locking?
« on: 23 October 2005, 13:40 »
Hello, does anyone know a thing or 2 bout central locking? I have a mk1 '89' cab gti and the central locking is fcuking up a bit. It sometimes works only on the passenger side and I think only twice in the year I have owned it that its worked from the drivers side.

I know it's been like it for a while but with winter looming I thought that I will now have the time to try and get it fixed.

Any help would be brilliant, thanks

sounds like an after market one but im taking it you have a remote alarm that locks the doors. best thing to do is take the door card on the drivers side off and check the wiring it should go straight to a small box that controls the locking. if the wiring in the door seems fine id trace it to the controller box and make sure its connected it would normally be in the passengers footwell but it could be anywhere. the common problem is the controller getting wet or the wiring inside the door, as water can run down inside the door and into the connections.
