Sooo removed rear seat this eve and got hand down under carpet to feel a saturated sponge sound deadener inside rear door.  From past experiences it’s v hard to get smell out of this spongey stuff so should I cut out wet section and replace section from breakers?

Cut it out and remove any residue with glue remover, doubt you'd notice the difference tbh.

Sooo noticed my back near side door leaking again 😩. Doin a bit of fresh research has come up wit drilling hole on inside of bottom of door to let water drain on to sill rather than fill up an in over rubber on cill. At first thought crazy but more thought I gave more it makes since. While still nervous of doing am I creating any future pitfalls??

The water is probably coming round the speaker in the rear door and bypassing the plastic sealing sheet and therefore getting inside the rubber door cill gasket and into the car. There are already drain holes in the bottom of the door so check these are not blocked. Drilling further holes will not solve the problem and create bare metal to rust.  Neighbour had this problem and solution was to remove the door card and find where the seal had failed - around the speaker is most common and clean, reseal with 'gunge' and replace the plastic sheet.
