Rear brakes on a Mk7/7.5 are mostly due to using ACC.

That makes a lot of sense :afro:

I never use the ACC on mine due to living out in the sticks away from motorways and the discs and pads are hadly wearing at all.

They were new when I got the car 5 months ago, and 4000 miles later the machining marks are still present.

I always wondered why, after looking at Golf's for sale, alot had really worn rear discs and I put that down to a few things that accelerate wear.

Cruise control as it moderates speed using the rear brakes,
Stability control braking the rear when needed,
Handbrake/auto-hold as it seems to drag a bit before releasing.
