Worth getting a private plate > GTI7etc

I am thinking of getting a private plate, it would have GT17 followed by something like LLL - But it would like like GTI7.
Worth it?

I personally prefer the 6 digit format if i were to get a private plate, like G17 CSG for example.

My preferred private plate, C40 DME, Clubsport Edition 40 followed by my initials, is on a 1985 beige Honda Accord last taxed and tested in 1999!!

I’ve never been tempted to have a private plate - I’m more than happy with the standard one that’s allocated to the car when it’s first registered and I prefer to have an ‘anonymous’ registration number, rather than one that’s readily identifiable by others as mine / my car .

I suppose a private plate does have the advantage of making the car ageless that it’s attached to though.

All my number plates have a prefix, single digit and 3 initials. I would prefer to have plates personal to me/us that I can keep for ever, rather than a car specific one that makes no sense on the next car.

You can contact DVLA to see if a plate is available. If it is, they will put it in a future auction.

I considered getting a PP**DUB number plate as there are loads of standard 7 digit ones available from DVLA for £250.

But like dubber said - I prefer to have a plate with meaning to me and not only making sense on a particular car.

Currently our cars have matching plates that we inherited (6-digit & 5-digit), and I already have more plates than cars.

Same here - bought mine to put on a new BMW in 1999. Managed to get same prefix letter and single digit with her 3 initials about 10 years later for the missus.

I bought my 6 digit for the 30 in it but it also works for 330 bmw's, but then I saw the same plate but 331 for sale and purchased it.
Personally I wouldn't pay for 7 digit reg especially for a specific car.
