Mk7.5 steering lock/immobiliser

This will probably sound like a stupid question but I’ve only had it a couple of weeks and only noticed it today.
Is the steering wheel supposed to completely lock when the keys taken out? Just as I've noticed today there’s play in mine when I take the key out.

It depends where the steering wheel is when you lock it. There is, what feels like, a slot that the locking pin drops into, which stops the wheel moving much at all, and you can very much feel it. If the wheel is turned away from that place, it may feel not to be locked at all.
