Hi all,

I've been a very happy mk7 owner for a couple of years, great car.

Unfortunately last week I had to get the car recovered, after work, it cranked, started and then died immediately.
Following that it just cranks, wont run.
I checked all the basics that I could, read DTCs, checked fuses. Everything seems good. Fortunate enough to have VCDS, so checked that when it cranks that I'm getting Cam and crank sensors reporting speeds.
I spoke to my local specialist, and he thought it could be timing chain and recommended to get it to VW dealer.
Unfortunately that's where its been since, and the service manager is not filling me with confidence. :lipsrsealed:

I've done some searching on line, and have found a few issues that we caused by the fuel pump control module, but the fuel pump on mine runs when controlled by VCDS, so I don't think that is this issue.

I've read that timing chain stretch can be an issue, but could that cause not running?
What is the general perception of VW dealers capability to diagnose engine faults?
If anyone has any suggestions I would be really happy to here them.
Thanks

Which engine is it?
Majority of engines on the mk7 should have a cam belt, not chain.

2.0T TSI. CHHB is the code I believe
I was told it was chain, VW after sales portal engine material only seems to mention chain.

Dealer have had car for week now, they seem to be stumped. They're now waiting for support from head office, and are suspecting immobilizer now. I don't believe it's that. There's no dtcs and I would have expected one if it was that, but I don't know for certain
