Mounting phone in a MK7
« on: 23 October 2022, 15:28 »
Hi All

Just wondered what the current thinking is to mount a phone to use as a Sat Nav? I have a 2014 with MIB1, so no Apple CarPlay.

Ideally like to route a charge cable too, and not keen on putting a steel plate in my phone case if I can help it!

Cheers

I used one of these before I had car play - secure enough (unless you have a massive phone maybe) and very small and neat when not in use.

Do have to shut off whichever vent your using it on if you have heating on as will warm the phone up is only downside.

I used a brodit mount that specific to your actual car and mounts really securely. You need a mount and a phone specific holder from them - they have a range which include charging options

Brodit again for me. Very sturdy. Have one in my van and car, got a universal one so when change phone it will be compatible.
Not cheap but worth it.
