Discover navigation touch screen issues
« on: 15 April 2020, 16:05 »
I have a golf gtd mk 7.5 and the discover navigation system has recently stopped working. I was just looking for any advice as I obviously can’t get to a VW garage to look into with COVID.

I’ve looked on google and tried a hard reset (hold on/off button for 10 secs), but it hasn’t solved the issue.

When I turn the key it doesn’t start the navigation system. Sometimes it will start with “welcome to Volkswagen” then go to the next screen “gtd”, but it fails to start up any of the navigation/media system and then goes blank. Sometimes it will randomly try to start up whilst I’m driving, but never actually goes any further.

Has anyone had any of these issues before, is there anything I could do to try and resolve this.?

Any comments are much appreciated.

Nope, thats a dealer job probably involving a new "brains" unit (in the glovebox)

Could be just a simple software update/firmware fix by the dealership. I had a similar issue on my Polo GTI+, but it was the virtual cockpit that failed to start up about 1 time in 4 ignition cycles. The 2 screens are linked. When the virtual cockpit screen failed the temperature reading on the multimedia screen read "--.--"
