Was washing the car yesterday and used my normal key to reverse the car back onto the driveway with no issue as usual - opened the car, started the engine, all totally as normal. Then put the key on the workbench in the garage (to prevent the KESSY system from locking the doors when I touch the drivers handle). Finished about 2 hours later, went back to the car with the keyfob, went to start the car and had a message on the dash that no key was found ?
I thought WTF, then tried pressing the key fob buttons the lock the doors and nothing, nada, and the little red light on the fob didn't illuminate ? I never had the fob battery warning come on at all on this car, so thought it very strange that the battery battery would just die like that all of a sudden.
Anyway as it happens, I had a couple of brand new Duracell CR232 button cells, so removed the one from the fob and replaced it with a brand new one and the same thing - nothing at all - no functions, light etc. I checked the voltage on the new battery and it was displaying maximum voltage of 3.02 volts, I then checked the old battery that came out of the fob and it was showing 2.999 volts.
Grabbed my spare key and that works no problem. I even put the "suspect" battery in the spare key and that works as well with no "low battery" warnings from the dash ?
Anyone any idea or has the fob shagged itself ?
