VW Apps
« on: 04 October 2019, 09:37 »
I have downloaded the My VW, VW Connect and We Connect Apps and having mixed thoughts on them at the moment.

The VW Connect one (think this one uses the data plug that was supplied), never records trips or parking locations.  Still shows the car as being parked at the dealer...  Maybe I have to have a permanent hotspot open on my phone for this to work?

The We Connect I set up alerts on leaving a geofence.  Sure, it recorded the movement in the app, but there was no notification received.

At this point I think I may take the data plug out and delete the apps.  Anyone had any success with these at all?

Waste of time, all of them. My VW looks to be ok at booking a service, but showed me incorrect information that didn't match what I got when I called up the dealer.

I was excited to have all this connectivity, but was turned off when I found out it was in 3 or 4 different apps. Why?! I'd like just one app for my car.

Anyway, when I found out they were all trash I just gave up anyway.

Now if you have a GTE or an e-Golf, you can preheat the car etc. That sounds more useful.

I don’t have a data plug but the car does have an onboard e-sim which is used for We Connect. Agree the app is not great, and has ceased to work at all since iOS 13.1.2.

Apart from when We connect occasionally drops off, never an issue. Find it useful, check if locked (I’m the paranoid one - ‘did I lock my car’?) - wish I’d had it a few years ago when I got lost in central London.
Easy to set up, notifications all come through when I turn them on.

Not to be confused with a decent tracker though

We connect logs the alerts in the app but I don’t get any notifications. The notification options are all grayed out also so perhaps this is why. Can’t see anyway to enable them. I’m on the latest version of the app and iOS.

I’m on IOS 12.4.1 on a 5 SE, not really into the latest and greatest phones, just keep what I have until it won’t work.
