Pedal Box From GTI To R
« on: 30 September 2019, 13:46 »
So I’ve just picked up an R. Currently have a DTUK pedal box on my GTI 7.5. Anyone know if it’ll be ok to use on the R?

Update for anyone that comes across this post.

Managed to get an answer from DTUK. It’ll require a software update which will cost £30.

Not sure I agree - I think you are talking to the salesmen who are telling you to spend money.

It’s a pedal box not a tuning box, so long as the plugs are the same (they will be) I’m pretty sure it will work fine.

I had mine in a GTI PP, R, GTD and Clubsport. Not tried it in a 7.5 yet but you never know!
It’s the same accelerator pedal assembly in all of them. The settings can be changed if it becomes a bit too responsive as the R is more responsive engine wise.

I suspect the rule of thumb is if the connectors fit, it works!
I have just taken the PB off my GTI and installed on my son’s 10 yr old Audi A3 1.6.
Works perfectly and has sharpened up the response in the old Audi no end......

When moving mine from a MK7 GTI to a 7.5 GTI PP I spoke to DTUK a couple of times with two completely different answers:

1) I needed to send it back for a free software update and I would just need to cover postage

2) It should work fine without any update

So I just tried it and it seems fine to me. Maybe a software update would change the response slightly but there are so many settings to choose from you are bound to find one you are happy with.

I transferred the pedalbox directly from my 1.4ltr Golf 7.5 to the 7.5 GTI with no issue at all.  Sounds like the DTUK bloke is selling you a pup there.
