Yeah dude got it sorted. It was the USB connector that needed changed in the cubby hole central dash area. Once that was replaced it was perfect. Was annoyed at Cameron’s Perth for not checking it once installed. Took it to Edinburgh and they sorted it fine. And strangely enough one of the horn plugs became detached and popped out through the brake cooling vent. Hmmmm.

On this topic of car play. A mate has a 2016 mk7 and fancies CarPlay. Do you have to go to the dealer or does anyone know a coding guy. I remember on the 1series forum a guy could remote instal it for £99. Just wondered if anyone knew if it was possible?

Cheers

From everything I read when I was looking into it, it's not doable by anyone other than the dealer.

I think if you're doing a MIB1 -> MIB2 conversion and go with a box hacked to remove component protection, then it can be enabled unofficially, but I don't think it's possible otherwise.

I wonder at this stage if dealers wouldn't be willing to do some sort of a deal on it. I got it thrown in when I bought mine used this year and it didn't take much persuading, so it might be worth having a chat and trying to work something out.
