Sod's law. You religiously change within warranty, the one time you don't, you get punished for it.

If you are after another Golf, chances are, a MK8 is going to cost you miles more than a MK7.5 GTI right now. Higher RRP, little or no access to discounts for the first year or so after release, and it looks like it's going to be a bit ugly vs MK7.5, just as MK6 was when compared with the MK5.

Now we've got to fund 2 cars in the household, we have 2 Polo GTI+. If my wife hadn't learned to drive, I'd have probably spent all the budget on an RS3.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

What coding needs to be done when replacing the battery?
needs coding because of the start stop system. If you don't have start stop then any replacement battery will do.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

My thoughts exactly re the Mk8, I just didn’t get myself sorted in time so had to service , mot and 2 new tyres. So now really indecisive about changing, current spec includes leather and Dynaudio both of which I’d probably have to forgo when changing, especially as my options are limited as I want a manual with under 500 miles. All my car buying life I’ve been after cars which are the proverbial ‘rocking horse s*#t’. 😀

Update- garage confirmed battery needed replacing, quoted £240 and said VW wouldn’t help toward the cost. I rang VW customer services, explained situation, they rang garage.... battery fitted FOC. Glad I made that call!

Still undecided on whether to swap or not though...

Wow, didn't expect that, given my recent experiences. Maybe the difference is work that's all parts and very little labour, vs a job that's all labour and time consuming. It must cost VW very little to send out a battery and assign 30 mins labour to the job.
