There have been a few on here gone APR, they’re about the best out there as generic remaps go.
They’re not cheap, I’ve personally never had an APR map but have had maps from various other tuners going back 20 years or so.
I tended to change my cars too often to swallow the cost of a full price APR map.

People are less into tuning FWD hatches now. Go back ten years and it was prolific on here but with scares over warranty issues, increasing outputs from the factory these days with even a basic GTI with 245 PS.
The way people buy cars has changed too with many of them on PCP’s and leases now. The whole car thing seems to have changed and tuning seems to be less in favour right now.
When I think back to the previous generations tuning and modifying was rife on here, be it alloy wheels through to engine tuning.

A few years ago there were quite a few on the American golfmk7.com using APR software but I’ve not checked that forum for years. Obviously you’ll always get a few moaners but generally APR maps are very highly developed and regarded.

My own personal experience during five and a half years of mk7 ownership is of tuning boxes, although I’ve elected to keep my Clubsport standard.
I really rate the JB1 box on the R engine. Not tried it on the GTI but it would have similar results.
I must get round to trying it on the Ed40...

Unless you've seen the Living Life Fast channel on YouTube, where tuning in the UK is at what seems an all-time high!

Sorry, bit off topic!

OP - what about Revo?

I’m not even going to click that link!

It might be a GTI forum thing as there’s a healthy tuning section over on VWROC  but it’s no way as prolific as back in the previous generation days.

I can vouch for REVO having had their maps for mk6 GTI and the original 1.8T GTI’s back in the day which is where REVO & APR cut their teeth. A good friend of mine runs a stage 2 Mk5 GTI on REVO software and hardware and it gets a hard life.

Hi
Has anyone done this? They want £725 so not a cheapo.

Thoughts...views?

Proud to say mine was the first Mk7 GTI in the UK that was remapped by APR, I've since covered about 50k miles and it never fails to make me smile when I put my foot down, loads of power and so much fun.  Zero issues with the tune, I'm out of warranty now but took it into VW for servicing etc with it on there. I would say hold back until there's an offer on, I recall only paying around £500 as there as a promotion on at the time.

Adds more than £100 to the annual premium that's for sure...
