Devastated
« on: 10 March 2006, 07:43 »

Two days agao i was involved in a bad car accident and my beautiful Rivage Cabby took the brunt of the impact - the VW garage who have done the estimate have told me it will be at least £4000 to repair - i am totally gutted

The front end is totally destroyed - is it worth trying to save her or not?  Suggestions please.........

No way. Another Rivage off the road. Gutted for you.    Hope you are ok and at the end of the day, it's just a car.

What about taking it to somewhere other than VW for an estimate ? 4k seems a big price and I doubt the insurance will allow it to be done for that price and will just write it off. I may know of a nice Green Rivage possibly up for sale for the right offer !
......now officially dubless.

Unlucky mate, i too have been involved in a situation as similar as yours. Mine was quoted for £2600 to fix, so was written off, but am fixing it myself, as it isnt really too bad tbh. But it is a lot of hassle. As gibby saif get a second opinion. They will prob just say its that much coz its an old car and cant be bothered to fix it, keep pushing.

Thanks guys

soooo gutted by the whole thing, waiting for the insurance co to get back to me with teh pitiful offer they will start at!  Hoping to able to buy it back off of them and fix it up myself over a period of time.  my only worry is that they said the chassis had some damage and i couldnt fix that up myself.

not too impressed by having to get a tow truck to move it about as well!

I would love to be able to afford your Rivage GIbby but i bet i couldnt afford it!!!

thanks for your concern though most people just tell me it is only metal which of course she isnt!!!

Neaty, I didnt mean to sound blase about it just being a car and I know you wont have taken any offence but in the light of what can happen in a car crash then just losing the car is the least of anyone's worries.

superslayer, you may be surprised about how much I want for it but you may think I want too much, but it is a green one and they are quite rare but I am thinking of selling and maybe looking for a good G60 or a Rallye, not sure yet.

Oh i know mate, no offence taken.

I know what u mean though, no one was hurt which is always the main thing. I was just devestated that my car was ruined, coz it wasnt completely k.o's so it wasnt bad enough to be turned into bean cans which meant it looked salvageable and wasnt just a little ding to drive away from. and then to add insult to injury, the copper just says its only a car, but for a dubber its never just a car! imo anyway!
